Opps I mentioned in my previous entry that I want to post some photos but haven done it...so I am here to post them tonight.

Have been busy recently. Busy with tuitions (3 tuition assignments can be a killer!), meeting up with friends, coping with school work (I seriously need recess week to catch up with my readings!) and whatnot. If one day I lost my planner, I will be so dead!

Last Tuesday, we had the ministerial forum in school and that allowed me to know our PM better. It wasn't really a fun fun experience but more of an interesting dialogue session.

The topic for that night was whether Singapore has room for more and PM talked about room for immigrants and foreign workers in his speech.

That somehow set me thinking.

How do you define an immigrant and a foreign worker?

Immigrant as someone who migrate to live in Singapore and hold our passport for long-term while foreign worker as someone who comes and work only when our economy demands.

I know there are restrictions on foreign workers like how maids cannot marry and live in Singapore otherwise their employers lose their deposit of $5000.

But what about immigrants? Are there criterias that they need to fulfill in order to be an immigrant? Eg. certain educational qualifications, their working expertise which can benefit us or their level of income?

It is interesting that PM made the point that we know intellectually that we need to accept immigrants into our country but it is just that in reality, we can't bring ourselves to do it. I quite agree with him. It seems to be that our minds are in tension with our hearts.

Maybe I shall post the photos other day. Haha another delay because I am sleepy already.
