Time to de-stress abit! Haha here are a couple of Jay's new music videos. I like these 2 songs personally. The first one is the typical Jay's kind of ballad which I find it to be nice. The second song has more interesting elements inside. I think it's quite catchy and while listening to the song, see if you can spot a familiarity with one of his previous songs.

Anyone knows any full-time tutor?? Urgent!!

I got my Jay's new album already! Haha I did not know that he was going to release a new album until I asked Agnes. Haha I have not been listening to the chinese radio or watching any entertainment news, that's why. I only managed to catch his new song on radio that day and I wondered is it that his new album is coming. Wow! It's his 8th album already! Quite impressive I think. Anyway, I have not really listened to his new songs yet though.

Yesterday morning, I went to a supermarket near my home and I had a random thought. There were a handful of China workers there buying some things and they were speaking quite loudly, so loudly that quite a few people turned and looked at them, haha I was one of them too. I did not notice their presence at all until more of them came in and talked very loudly. I overheard one of the salesperson commenting to her colleague that China people are ALWAYS that loud.

Hm, that comment made me think. What if a different group of people came in? Maybe a group of Westerners who walked in and started talking in the same volume. Would the salesperson make the same comment? I think that it is inevitable that the volume increases with the size of the group. Why can't that salesperson attribute the loudness to the size of the group instead of their nationality? I think people just have their prejudgments and stereotyping. I admit that includes me inside.

As a result of a construction project just across the street, my area has been recently influxed with foreign workers. Whenever I walk past them at night, I would tend to be more alert. I guess its about my stereotyping about them. I think many people tend to form prejudgments or rather prejudice about others, based on their stereotypings. Moreover, these foreign workers come from developing countries and hence, there is a notion of power relations inside too I think. The serangoon gardens incident is an example. Isn't it an irony? We, acclaimed ourselves as a cosmopolitan city and yet our mindsets contradict the fundamentals of a cosmopolitan city.

This evening I passed by my primary school and it's so different now! A few years ago, my school moved to a nearby premise which was originally the site of another primary school. The old building was left unattended for quite some time before undergoing some renovation works. The building is preserved but with some minor alterations done. It has become a commercial building! I am not sure what activities take place at the main school building because they are companies which I do not recognise. However, the canteen, which is visible from the road, has become a restaurant! Cool right? An old school canteen being transformed into a posh restaurant. I saw Caucasians patronising the restaurant and it's not surprising as the building is flanked all around by condominiums. What an acumen in business!

Yesterday morning I went to Botanic Gardens with the programmers from AFTH. We were there to recce the place as we are thinking of bringing our beneficieries there for our first outing in December. When was the last time I had been there? 10years ago? It has become a very beautiful garden with a tinge of modernity in it. It is really a scenic place! Quite a number of people there were equipped with their high-definition cameras, hoping to capture a few remarkable shots. At some point in time, we thought that we were in autumn as the yellow leaves float in the wind. We enjoyed it alot!

Oh, guess what I saw during one of my trips to Botanic Garden when I was young! I saw a tortoise laying eggs by a tree near the lake. The eggs were translucent and haha looks like grapes to me. Haha I remembered me and my cousins exclaiming very loudly at our discovery. This time round though,  we did not make such discoveries.

Here are some pictures taken of the scenic place.
The majestic gate at the entrance. I like the design alot!
Ya, this is the place where you will feel like you are in autumn when the leaves are carried by the wind.
Although it has modern facilities like the above, I think the designers have really made an effort to blend the modernity with nature.
Isn't this interesting? Haha instead of getting toys or keychains inside the capsules, you get fish food to feed the fishes!

Oh man! I am dying from HS301. The readings are so difficult! I don't understand them at all. Why do these theorists have to come up with such abstract theories?? Haiz...the quiz is coming...2 days later and yet I am so clueless about the theories. Luckily CS100 was not so bad. Otherwise I can really die.

Talking about CS100, I was so blur that day. I remembered that we only have to do 2 short answer questions out of 3 and instructions on the front page reminded us too. However, after doing all the MCQs and finally reaching the short answer section, I cleanly forgotten about it and I went to do all 3 questions. I was doing the third question halfway and trying to figure out the answer when it suddenly struck me that I do not have to do it at all. Phew!

By the way, I was clearing my email that day when I saw an email from one of my profs regarding a protest at the speakers' corner by our students. Recently, an infamous opposition politician came to our campus to spread his ideas and some campus reporters did a coverage for it. They were about to print the article in our campus newspaper when the president of our campus stopped the print. It angered some students and alumni who think that there should be media and intellectual freedom. Hence, they planned to hold a protest on Sunday (I am not sure if it did carried out as planned) and my prof sent us an email informing us about it.

I was quite amazed about it but on the other hand, I think that it is quite redundant too. I applaud their courage for speaking up on what they think is right and yes, I agree that there should be intellectual freedom to promote critical thinking. However, will the protest really helps? I passed by the speaker's corner on early Sunday afternoon, before the protest was scheduled to start and the place was very quiet. I wonder how much attention will be given to the protest.
