On Friday, it was the first time we met our beneficiaries for AFTH. They are a group of children aged between 5-8 years old who have varying degrees of handicap but still they attend mainstream schools. The more serious ones came on wheelchairs while the least serious ones look just like any normal kids. Haha there was one little boy who was super cute and he was the favourite for some of us.

I woke up super early that day at around 6.30am as we had to reach the Botanic Gardens before 9am. I was very sleepy and almost fall asleep on the train. Soon after we arrived at the Botanic Gardens, those kids started arriving and there were about 15 of them. We started playing games with them and I was in charge of the first icebreaking game which was very simple. However, some kids were very shy and did not want to say their names. Haha it was quite tiring to get the game going but it benefits me alot as it allows me to  recognise and know all their names fast. We played pictionary as well and taught them how to make kaleidescopes. Aiya, should have taken a picture of their masterpieces. Some were really nice and colourful.

After lunch, their parents came to pick them up. It was good to see them happy and smiling by the end of the event. After debrief,  some of us made our way to Toa Payoh to have a look at our venue for our main event. The main event is on 7Feb. Hey! If any of you have any contacts for performances, please let me know. I am looking for some performances to be staged during the main event. It can be dance item, band performances or anything that you deem fit. Just let me know ok? Thanks!

Yesterday, I went to the AWWA home for a session with the elders. It has been around 2 months since I last went there and we all missed the uncles and aunties alot! Haha we missed each other alot too and hence for the first half of the session, we chatted alot among ourselves. The auntie who Pris and I always talked to lamented that we did not go there for a very long time, around 1 month plus. Quite glad to see that she is still healthy and fine. We chatted awhile with her and shared some updates. I always enjoy talking to her as she is easy to talk to, just like my grandmother and she speaks the same dialect as me. After our session, a small group of us went to have some drinks and chatted. It was great to catch up with the aunties and also friends.
