Hm...these 2 days I have been watching a couple of movies about Chinese history. I must say that these movies reignite my interest in Chinese history. How I miss those days taking CLA. Haha of course not the memorising and writing part. What I miss about CLA is the interesting Chinese history. I find it amazing. So many impactful and controversial events had happened in Chinese history, such as the rape of Nanking, the Cultural Revolution, the different dynasties and many more. I am quite curious about them.

Yesterday, I went to watch Warlords with Denise (Seet's sis). It is a movie set in the period of Qing dynasty. Hm...alot of wars and internal battles between the three sworn brothers. The visual effect is good. Haha but I would say that the lead actress is quite a waste. She did not act much. It appears to me that whenever she appears on screen, she will have some intimate scenes with 2 of the lead actors. But overall I would say its average.

After the movie, I went off to meet some of my CCA mates for steamboat at Bugis. Hm...its the usual group of us, minus Priscilla who is busy with projects and Pei Kiat who is in Japan. We went to this part of Bugis where I had never been to before. There is this lane whereby there are alot of eateries. At the end of the lane is the ChongQing Steamboat where we had our dinner. I think the place is quite famous for its ma la steamboat. It was quite crowded, especially for a weekday. But the 10 of us did not try their ma la steamboat. Haha we settled for some other soup bases instead. It costs $15 for each person. Hm...I still prefer the steamboat style at Marina Bay. And its cheaper haha. As usual, we crapped for quite some time before we made our way home. Hm...maybe I will upload the pics after Janice uploaded them.

Today, I met up with Seet, EK, Ben and Seet's sis for a movie at Vivo. We watched the "Nanking" which is exclusively showing at Cinema Europa. Hm...I think that the cinema Europa is not that grand afterall. Haha although the name sounds nice, the place is just average. It's smaller in size but nothing special. I think the Grand Cathay is nicer.

Okie...the movie itself. I think its quite good. It's something like a documentary about the Japanese Occupation in Nanking, the former capital of China. They included interviews with the survivors of the war and also some Japanese soldiers who were involved in the war. I was quite disgusted by the interviews of the Jap soldiers. I can't help feeling angry with them, esp after hearing what they said about their actions. Another part that pissed me off was the propaganda used by the Jap! It's so...maddening. I think the saddest part was the recount by a survivor about his mother and baby brother. I could not control my tears at that moment. Haha Seet said that I sobbed quite loudly. Haha but I heard her sobbing too lor. I think she teared more than I did lah haha. Oh man...I have the urge to borrow the book about the rape of Nanjing.
