Argh...I have been trying to put songs on my blog but I can't! Whenever I put the songs on my blog, the alignments on my blog will be messy. Aiyo. Shall try doing it again other day.
Hm...countdown later. So fast. Another year has passed. I am not really looking forward to the new year. Don't know why but now I don't look forward to a new year or another birthday. It just shows how fast time has passed. Sometimes, I really wish that time can be paused, or even better...rewind.
Anyway, on Saturday, our clique plus Eugene minus Agnes and Denise went to Seet's place for BBQ. It was a last-minute plan. The night before at around 11pm, me and Seet were thinking what to do the next day and ta-dah...Seet had the idea of BBQ-ing at her place. Haha I think that our clique is really efficient. We could gather everyone for a BBQ even at the last minute and everything went smoothly somemore.
Before the BBQ, I went for my cca and we distributed kuehs and popiahs to the elders. Haha we were left with alot of leftovers and we volunteers were FORCED to finish them. Haha not really forced lah. Haha luckily I was fast enough to run out of the room and ignored my coordinator's callings. While giving out the food, I was in the centre of a quarrel between 3 aunties. One of them wanted to have 2 servings because she wanted to save one for dinner. However, her roomates insisted that everyone gets one serving only. Haiz...it's always because of these trivial things that they quarrel about.
Okie...back to BBQ. We had so much food that there were still quite alot of chicken wings left behind. We just started a fire in a small BBQ pit (those can be kept one) outside Seet's place and enjoyed our food. Haha I guess everyone was happy except Leo who did not managed to get any food from us. Haha i took some pics but they were quite blur so I am not uploading lah.
Happy new year everyone!!
Wow...recently I have been listening to Westlife's new album very often. Haha I miss their singing alot. The songs in their latest album are like those in their first few albums. It is the kind whereby once you listen, you know that it is Westlife. Although the songs are nothing special, I think these kind of songs are most suitable for them. Haha I am still a Westlife fan.
Today, I went shopping with Agnes, Clare and Denise Loh. We bought quite alot of things. I bought a skirt and 2 tops for $40. Reasonable right? Somemore its in Orchard. Haha you need to find the right type of shops. We had Iciban for lunch as well. Today I was not very tempted by the food there haha don't know why. Haha at Iciban today again, Agnes commented that I talked very loudly. Oh gosh...am I really that loud. Haha we had a good laugh while we were buying bubble milk tea. Aiyo Agnes was like the devil and angel persuading someone when making decision. Super funny.
Last night, I waited for one hour to view my results. Haha I was super anxious and started checking at 12am. I have mixed feelings for my results. Happy that I did better than expected but yet sad that I did not improve. Haha weird. Must chiong next sem le.
Yesterday, my clique and I celebrated Christmas together. We met up in Orchard around late afternoon. Before that, I went out with my family. Yeah!...its the first time after such a long time that our whole clique is present. Haha so of course we grabbed the chance to take a pic.
Here are the pics...
Haha personally I prefer the 2nd shot.
After that, Denise went off while the rest of us went for dinner at Ramen Ten in Far East. I would say that the food there are not good. I did not really eat though haha. Me and Ben just shared a ice cream thing called Blackcurrent sunrise. Only the name sounds good.
There, we gave each other X'mas gifts as well. Due to our budget, we decided not to exchange gifts this year. But! We (except Andy haha) were still sweet enough to prepare something small for everyone. Haha I gave the 3 ladies their long belated birthday presents as well. Haha it has been exactly 6 months after Seet's birthday that I am giving her...gosh.
After dinner, we went to Borders adn walked around a while before heading to our fave hangout place...Seet's place. Haha we played mahjong and dai dee.
Today, I went to Minds cafe with my cca friends. Haha the perfect 10 turned up in full force. Haha we call ourselves the perfect 10 although there are 11 of us. We were there to have a send-off party for Geraldine and Yee Loong who are leaving for exchange programme soon. Oh ya! We should have taken a pic hor...since they will be going off le. Totally forgotten about it.
Anyway, we had a fun time there. It was super hilarious when we were playing Say what and True Colours. Haha this time round, I fared better for my Taboo game le...haha. Pei Kiat gave us all a small gift from Japan as well. She's really sweet too. Haha she gave me, Pris and Denise (Denise, if u reading this, I will pass the present to u the next time we meet hor) something extra as well. I think she spent quite alot, esp when things at Japan are not cheap. Thanks Pancake!!
After that, I went home for awhile before making my way for tuition. Today's tuition was quite good, haha at least she paid attention.
Alright...I am going sleep...very tired.
Hohoho...Merry Christmas in advance!!
Season of giving, season of joy is here! Haha although I am not a Christian, I still soak in the joyous atmosphere of Christmas. I think this is a time whereby alot of people are super busy, super happy and super tired. Haha tired from all the endless shopping and celebration.
On Saturday, I went to the AWWA home to celebrate X'mas with the elders. It was very fun and joyous. The committee planned a bazaar for the elders, setting up games booths and giving out prizes and food to the elders. Priscilla, our business manager, is really good at sourcing for sponsors haha. It has been quite some time since we last met. She is so busy this holiday with all the projects and finding sponsors. Haha Pei Kiat too. She has just came back from Japan. Really miss these 2 girls haha. Oh ya, Janice was really sweet. Haha I am not close to her but she gave us each a X'mas card together with some name stickers. I remember that those name stickers are not cheap. I was quite surprised by that. Overall, the bazaar was a success and everyone was happy. For volunteers, when we see that the elders are happy, we are happy too!
Here are some pics taken that day.
I like the above poster alot. It's a pity that I didn't see it while I was in the home haha.
Aren't they cute?! These santa clauses were decorations for the brownies that were sponsored.
Haha before the event, everyone was busy preparing in the conference room. Some were busy wrapping up prizes, some were busy using their eye power and some were just busy enjoying the air-con. Haha I belonged to the third category. Opps!
Ta-dah! This is one of the games booths being set up. The elders have to throw at the cans using a paper ball.
Saw Denise? She was stationed at this game booth whereby the elders had to throw paper balls into a basket.
Here comes me and Pris. We were busy giving out food to the elders. Opps! Was I caught handling food without using gloves? Hm...I think I was just giving the uncle a fork lah.
After giving out popiah and fishballs, me and Pris went on to give out soya beancurd to the elders. We had to go door-to-door on every level to clear the beancurd.
This is the long-awaited moment...lucky draw! The elders filled up the room very quickly, with some not able to enter.
Here are the prizes for the lucky draw. They are not as grand as those last year, but the elders were still happy.
Haha ard 10 of us hid in this corner to write farewell cards for 2 of our friends. They are leaving for Canada and Ireland for one semester exchange programme.
Pei Kiat, Pris and I. Haha from the smiles on our faces, you can see that we are all happy at the end of the day.
Yesterday, I had X'mas celebration with my relatives at my house. It was a time to showcase their culinary skills. We had pot-luck and I must say that my aunties and uncles can really cook. Haha I even set a deal with my uncle to try his steamed crabs and asam prawns one day. I love his tom-yam soup! My and my cousins had 3-4 servings of the soup each. We also celebrated birthday for one of my nieces. Her birthday is on X'mas day itself! Haha my mum bought an ice-cream cake from Swensens. It was good! Wow, my stomach was really satisfied yesterday.
Last night, I went for dinner together with Agnes, Clare and Benjamin. We went to Miss Clarity's cafe at Bugis. It was the first time for the 3 of them. After watching Makansutra, Agnes wanted to give it a try. Haha I think that cafe is gaining popularity with all the media exposure. However, last night's dinner was not really splendid. They have opened another branch again, this time in Tanjong Pagar I guess.
Oh ya, Clare has just returned from Hong Kong. Apparently, her tour guide pissed her off haha. I wonder how will my trip next year to Hong Kong be. Speaking of this, I have to miss the Arts from the Hearts' trip to the zoo with the children. It clashes with my Hong Kong trip. Disappointed. It's one of the highlights of this charity thing and I have been looking forward to it.
Alright...here are some pics we took last night.
Ben had this pizza. It was quite good.
My porky with onions. Erm...very oily and quite salty though.
Clare's lamb chops. The sauce is abit spicy.
Agnes's chicken cordon bleu. Erm...they gave very little ham and cheese, mainly chicken breast.
Us in the train. Ben was the photographer so he was not in the pic. Haha look at Aggy. Guess what was she doing.
Today, I joined Agnes and her CSS for christmas caroling. It's my first time joining them for caroling. It was fun. I really enjoyed myself today haha. Haha we went to Mount Elizabeth hospital and raffles place for caroling. I think there were about 20 of us in all the 4 sections of choir. Although it was a small group, our singing was still quite loud haha. I had a crash course from Agnes and one of her friends on our way to the hospital.
The hospital is super nice. We went to this level whereby there are executive and royal suites. The corridor looks just like a hotel's corridor, complete with the chandelier and exquisite wallpaper. I wonder how much it costs per night! We were invited to sing for an auntie in one of those rooms and I think she is super rich. She even gave tips!!
After that, we made our way to raffles place for a performance to garner donations for YMCA. I saw a performance that was really good. They are a group of secondary students who used the household utensils to act as drums and percussion. It was really engaging.
Next, me and Agnes left the group and we went to Marina square's pizza hut for lunch. We tried their xmas spcial pizza. Erm, I still prefer the normal supremes haha. We were too hungry to take any pic of the pizza though. After that, we walked around and we were super high when we came to Sasa. Haha we were choosing some nail polish and started talking crap. Can't rmb what was it about but it was super hilarious. Then, I made my way off for tuition.
Here are some pictures taken with my hp.
Haha I look abit sian in this pic. Guess I was too hungry.
Dearest Aggy!!
Opps! Our flaws were totally exposed in this pic haha.
Haha I was busy enjoying my pizza.
Me and Aggy again in the train. Haha the photo turned out super dark and we did some changes to the lighting...li hai ba haha.
Okie...I going rest. Feeling abit unwell. Look out for my next post!! Coming soon!!
Bon Voyage dearest Seet Ee!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few hours later, our dear Seet Ee is going to board the luxurious SIA flight to Beijing. So shiok lah!! She is going to see and touch snow with her hands. Aiyo, I have not seen real snow before lah. Haha I will have my chance one day!! Snow wait for me haha.
Anyway, today we had lunch together to send off Seet Ee. PoMC (haha short form for "people of my clique" by Ben) minus Agnes plus Denise Loh met up in Swensens at Causeway Point. Haha Andy finally showed up. It has been such a long time since he last met up with us. It's a pity that Agnes was busy if not our whole clique will be present. We had a simple lunch and took some photos. After the lunch, Andy went off and the rest of us went to Seet's house for some asshole daidi. It's always fun playing that game haha.
Here are the photos taken using my new handphone!!!!!!
Yummy! My chicken cheese baked rice. But I prefer the baked rice at Xin Wang cafe, the cheese there are thicker and yummier haha.
Brownie with ice cream! It looks good doesn't it? Haha Ben was enjoying every mouth of it.
Seet Ee, Andy and Denise. Haha Andy looks unprepared.
Ben with his brownie, me and Qb.
Okie...Andy looks better here haha. Denise is holding a cup of passion fruit drink.
Haha Andy is getting shoot at by Denise.
Andy (above) and Qb (below) are enjoying their food.
Seet was caught unaware! Haha her sis is hiding behind the menu.
Alright...thats all. Hope Seet will bring back lots of presents for us haha.
Yeah!!!!!
Finally...I have a new handphone!! Haha I have been dragging for a long time to buy a new phone, after my old phone spoilt. I was hesitating which phone to get and the cost as well. But! My concerns were put to rest after I came across this roadshow at Westmall. They were offering $100 lower than the usual price!! Of course I jumped at the chance haha. So happy!!! But...me and my family waited for 5 hours!!!!!!!!!! The queue was super long and the staff processed things very slowly.
Hm...besides getting a new handphone today, I gotten a blister on my feet as well. Haha guess its because of all the walking from the garang guni and straight after that, hours of standing in the queue for my phone. Hm...garang guni...everything went well. The weather was quite okie lah, it didn't rain much. That's very important haha. We managed to collect about 2 truckloads of old newspapers and clothings. Not alot because alot ppl were not at home. This time, we ended later than that time when I did with RSP Elders. This time round, I did it with Arts from the Hearts, the same group of ppl for the marathon last time, just that fewer ppl. But our group still managed to cover
10 blocks! With just me, Wei Ching and 4 other guys lor haha. Our leader gave us a treat too haha for our efforts. At the end of the day, we are happy. Can't wait to see the beneficieries!!
Emotional talk...Hope things will take a turn for the better...
Hm...these 2 days I have been watching a couple of movies about Chinese history. I must say that these movies reignite my interest in Chinese history. How I miss those days taking CLA. Haha of course not the memorising and writing part. What I miss about CLA is the interesting Chinese history. I find it amazing. So many impactful and controversial events had happened in Chinese history, such as the rape of Nanking, the Cultural Revolution, the different dynasties and many more. I am quite curious about them.
Yesterday, I went to watch Warlords with Denise (Seet's sis). It is a movie set in the period of Qing dynasty. Hm...alot of wars and internal battles between the three sworn brothers. The visual effect is good. Haha but I would say that the lead actress is quite a waste. She did not act much. It appears to me that whenever she appears on screen, she will have some intimate scenes with 2 of the lead actors. But overall I would say its average.
After the movie, I went off to meet some of my CCA mates for steamboat at Bugis. Hm...its the usual group of us, minus Priscilla who is busy with projects and Pei Kiat who is in Japan. We went to this part of Bugis where I had never been to before. There is this lane whereby there are alot of eateries. At the end of the lane is the ChongQing Steamboat where we had our dinner. I think the place is quite famous for its
ma la steamboat. It was quite crowded, especially for a weekday. But the 10 of us did not try their ma la steamboat. Haha we settled for some other soup bases instead. It costs $15 for each person. Hm...I still prefer the steamboat style at Marina Bay. And its cheaper haha. As usual, we crapped for quite some time before we made our way home. Hm...maybe I will upload the pics after Janice uploaded them.
Today, I met up with Seet, EK, Ben and Seet's sis for a movie at Vivo. We watched the "Nanking" which is exclusively showing at Cinema Europa. Hm...I think that the cinema Europa is not that grand afterall. Haha although the name sounds nice, the place is just average. It's smaller in size but nothing special. I think the Grand Cathay is nicer.
Okie...the movie itself. I think its quite good. It's something like a documentary about the Japanese Occupation in Nanking, the former capital of China. They included interviews with the survivors of the war and also some Japanese soldiers who were involved in the war. I was quite disgusted by the interviews of the Jap soldiers. I can't help feeling angry with them, esp after hearing what they said about their actions. Another part that pissed me off was the propaganda used by the Jap! It's so...maddening. I think the saddest part was the recount by a survivor about his mother and baby brother. I could not control my tears at that moment. Haha Seet said that I sobbed quite loudly. Haha but I heard her sobbing too lor. I think she teared more than I did lah haha. Oh man...I have the urge to borrow the book about the rape of Nanjing.
Phew!! Finally I have successfully registered my modules. It was so choatic and scary. Haha the vacancies run out super fast and we have to race against other people's speed of clicking. Okie...now just waiting for the GE and UE results. Hope I can get the GE and UE that I want. Haha I will have a 3- day-week (if things go well). First time having 3-day-week. Wow hope I won't be even more slack.
Okie...here are some photos I snatched from Denise and Wei Ching. Haha the photos were taken around one week ago. They are being captured by our drink station leader for the marathon.
I like the above photo best. Haha it looks so...erm...professional. Haha its the kind of photos that you can see in a gallery. But trust me, the cups did not look so beautiful while we were collecting them.
Opps...we were captured playing "er-wu-ling". Haha we were waiting for the last runner to run past and so, we palyed games to keep ourselves entertained. Ya, Ching hits super painful lah. Haha her hands were red from hitting us and our palms were red from her hitting us.
Okie...mahjong session at Seet's place later. Haha so long never play already...don't know if I still remember. Hope I can win some money!!
Yesterday during my cca, we did Christmas decorations for the home. Haha the aunties and uncles were quite happy to see the decorations and one uncle even offered to help us take the ladder. They are really nice. But yesterday's session had a sad news. One of the aunties there had passed away. She was the godma of one of my seniors. I talked to her a few times before with Priscilla. I remembered before our exams, we went to talk to her and she was not feeling well. She lost alot of weight and had diarrohea for quite some time. Haiz...I guess this kind of thing always happen in these homes.
Anyway...after our cca, me and Denise met up with Seet Ee, Eng Keat, Qunbao and Benjamin. We went to Minds cafe at Boat Quay for games and fun. We played some games such as Taboo, Apples to Apples, Jenga and some games that I can't remember the names haha. I think the most funny game is Taboo. It was super exciting and noisy haha. Aiyo in the end I was the loser. Haha next time we shall go there as a full clique. Think it will be more fun.
After that, me, Seet, QB and EK went to meet some foreign friends. One of them is on exchange programme from Netherlands and another 2 are Indonesian-Chinese studying in Singapore. Haha it was the first time I talked to them but they are quite easy to mix around with and I heard alot about them from Seet and Agnes. Haha. We went to Marina Bay for steamboat and my stomach was really satisfied. We took quite alot of pics as well but Seet has not uploaded them. Okie...shall upload them some other day.
Yesterday, I met up with Agnes to head down to Orchard for some window shopping and good food haha. Our good food is...Iciban!! Haha one of our fave food outlet. I bought some mochi home as well. They are really good! Haha after filling our stomachs, we went into many shops to try high heels. It was super fun, especially at Zara where there are alot of ultra high heels. Wow suddenly I have fresh air.
Today, I went for tuition as usual on Fridays. But, as usual again, my student had forgotten about tuition. She was out with her mum. Haiz, it happened so many times that I was not angry or disappointed with her anymore. But I still cherish the hope that she will be more responsible now that she is going into pri 6.
In the evening, I met up with our clique, minus Andy and plus Denise (Seet's sis) and Eugene. We went to this food outlet named Ayam Penyet. Haha its the name of one of the dishes that they offer as well. I had that for dinner. It was quite average. It's some fried chicken that has been smashed, erm not the "er xin" type lah. But my favourite has to be the crispy flour bits. They taste good. But for those who love belachan, you all will enjoy the food better. The belachan is good, though I only tried one small bit. Denise loves the belachan alot haha. She helped me finished up the belachan haha...thx Denise.
After dinner, we walked around and I must say that this year's Christmas lightings are quite nice. I like the colour of the lightings, they gave me a snowy feeling. But the decorations for the shopping centres were not really spectacular. I could only remember seeing Christmas trees, nothing special. After that, we went to a bistro in Cineleisure. Hm...4 of us shared a chocolate fondue. It's not really worth it. So far, the best fondue that I have tried is the one offered by Andersen's ice cream. The chocolate is super rich and warm, while you can dip ice cream in it. Cool in the inside and warm on the outside, and the rich sweet flavour of chocolate. Wow, I misss it!!!!!
Yesterday, I met up with Denise (Seet Ee's sis) in the afternoon to shop at Bugis. We spent quite alot. I bought a olive green bag at $36(after much bargaining), a pair of dark green shoes at $20 and some earrings at $5. Haha I didn't realise that my bag and shoes were in green until we were on our way out of Bugis. Haha I guess yesterday was a green day for me.
Denise bought a pair of skinny jeans for $30 as well. Actually in Bugis, there are many shops selling skinny jeans now. It's the craze now. Somemore, they come in different colours, ranging from white to green, blue, red, yellow and black. For me, I was quite conscious of what jeans it is. In Bugis, I guess there are 2 main types of jeans, New Future and XT2. I prefer the latter because of its material, it's not so much of wrapping around your legs.
After shopping, we were hungry. I recommended her Miss Clarity's Cafe! Haha it has been quite some time since I last went there. I missed their cheese fries!! We ordered a plate of cheese fries, fish cordon bleu for me and baked rice for her. We were so full after the meal.
After that, we went to Vivocity to meet up with Seet Ee, Eng Keat and Benjamin. We walked around for a while before meeting up with Qun Bao for a movie. We watched "30 days of night". Haha the night before, I smsed Denise asking her whether it was scary. She had watched it already and her tolerance level for gore and horror movies is super high haha. She told me it was 4/10. Haha that encourages me to watch. Ya, I agree with her that the movie is not so gory. It's acceptable for me, somewhat bland wahaha...guess I am becoming the next Denise?! Anyway, the movie is so-so. The main draw shall be the actors' actings. Josh Harnett was the lead actor. He's cute. I remember the first time I saw him acting was in the movie Pearl Harbour. Wow so long ago.
Okie...lack of photos because my handphone camera can't make it. I am going get a new phone soon! I am aiming for Sony Ericsson K810i. Ya quite an old phone already but at least it's within my budget.
Hm...rainy day today. Making me slacking and sleeping whole day.
Woohoo...the Standard Chartered Marathon is over!!!!!
It's the first time that I am involved in a marathon. Although I was only there as part of the drinks station crew, it's really fun, tiring and amazing.
The whole experience started at 12.15am when we were picked up at several MRT stations. I was picked up at Bishan MRT. When we reached the open field opposite the Padang, we received a Adidas shirt that we were supposed to wear and also a bag of goodies. Haha I like the Adidas shirt. The material is good and very comfortable.
At around 3am, we headed off to our respective drinks station locations. Me, together with Denise and Wei Ching, were stationed at East Coast Park. It feels good to hear the waves crashing against the shore while we got things ready. Haha by then, the 3 of us were super high. We were too tired.
At 6.30, the first runners arrived! They are runners from Kenya. Wow, when we saw them, we were super excited lah haha. Guess it's because we had waited for so long before the action begins. Guess what? They took only 1hour to run 21km okie!! That's super fast lah, compared to some who took around 6 hours. Oh my goodness, the way they take the drinks is super erm...violent? Gan Chiong? Haha...they did not slow down and hence, when they took a cup, the nearby 3-4 cups will spill. You can really see the desire to win in them.
After that, it was really hectic, with big groups of runners coming endlessly. I kept wondering how many runners are there. We were so busy that our shirts, shorts and even handphones in our pockets were wet. Can you imagine how chaotic the situation was? Haha but its fun as well. Oh ya, there were quite a number of good-looking guys too haha.
I really applaud those runners who had such strong determination and perserverance. Some of them were really way behind the crowd and they took like 6 hours to complete half of the marathon, but!!...they did not give up. They continued to press on. On my goodness, if I were them, I guess I would give up already. I really lack of perserverance.
The whole experience ended at around 1pm for us. At the end, we were really tired and sleepy but I would say its all worth it. It's really an eye-opener and an experience that I would not forget. I will remember the perserverance that the runners displayed and the strive for success by the Kenya runners. Although they are poor, but they have their talents too.
Wow a superr long post about the marathon. Haha didn't expect it to be so long but I think I have alot of thoughts about it. Anyway, I cut my hair! Hm...not really a drastic haircut. Haha maybe you all can't even see the difference lah haha. But I think it feels lighter and also, I like the way the hairdresser blows my hair. It makes my hair so straight and neat. Haha but today, after I washed my hair, it's back to the usual messy and frizzy hair again. Sad.
Haha compare and contrast.
A closer view.
Okie...that's all.
Today was the memorial service for the 5 dragon boat members who died in cambodia. I was looking through my email and saw that the president of NTU had sent an email to everyone in NTU. In the email, he mentioned that he, together with NTU's dragon boat team and sports officials, attended the memorial service. Although I did not attend the service, I could sense the sombre mood. It's really sad that this kind of thing had happened. Hm, I was thinking whether is there anything that could have been done to prevent their lives from being sacrificed.
Anyway, today I watched a movie "Fred Claus" with my cousin's daughter. Hm, I would say that the setting is beautiful. But other than that, I think the movie is so-so only. Somehow, the plot is quite predictable. After that, we went home for a rest before I went for my tuition. Somehow, I got worried for my student. Her sister was very hardworking during Pri 6 but still she got 230 only. I wonder what my student will get. After tuition, I met up with QB and Ben for dinner at Ajisen Ramen in J8. I tried their Tomato ramen. I think it's quite good, just that not much ingredients.
I'm anticipating for tomorrow. After so long, I wonder whether the elders in the home still recognise me haha. I wonder how are they getting on. Tomorrow, at the strike of 12, I am going to take part in the 42km marathon. Haha, no lah I am not running. I am just part of the drinks crew. I wonder whether I can be alert throughout the whole night and the following morning. Actually, till now, I am still quite lost about it. I don't know what we have to wear (oh ya, my sports shoe soles came off die man if tmr need wear that), what we have to do and the person who contacted me never ask my shirt size also lor.
Okie...very sleepy...good night!
